Tip #20…Value of Practical Skills
Part 3 / Interviewing For Fun and Profit Part 3
Hi!
- Greetings from Moscow, Idaho.
- This is Stephen Beck with FamilyEbiz.com.
Hey did you know we now have
samples of some of our talks that you can hear on the web? So, now you can try
it before you buy it! In order to make it a fast download for you, I have
lowered the bit rate. This detracts from the sound quality a bit on the website,
but the sound quality on the CD that you purchase will be great. So sample some
of our talks at the links below:

The Value of Practical Skills III
Last time we saw the necessity of having
practical skills for the arguably the greatest theologian that ever lived (other
than Christ!). If Paul found it necessary to have practical skills to fall back
on, how much more should we? In fact, one of the requirements of a Pharisee in
New Testament times was that he had to have a trade. That is why Paul was a tent
maker. Now, of course we are much more sophisticated in these modern times and
have left behind the need for practical skills. Or have we? Below are four
reasons why I believe practical skills are necessary for our young men no matter
what career they choose to pursue.
1. Practical skills give us freedom from man.
Notice in 1 Corinthians, Paul did not have to
rely on the haughty Corinthians for his livelihood. He had his own source of
bread and the Corinthians had no power over him. He was free from their
corrupting influence. He could minister to a group of people without being
beholden to them financially. How many pastors are afraid to say things that
need to be said because some influential person in the church might pull the
financial plug on them? Or how many Christian public school teachers are afraid
to call evolution a lie because they might lose their livelihood? Knowing some
practical skills can give us freedom from undue influence by other men.
2. Practical skills provide an example for those
we disciple.
One of the key reasons Paul worked with his hands
was to provide an example to those to whom he was ministering. If the one who
discipled is willing to do manual labor to get the gospel out, how much more the
one being discipled? And hopefully our children are our number one disciples.
They need to see the value of practical skills and the character that these
skills produce. I have been amazed at some of the softness and downright
laziness of the boys that enter my Life Skills Camps. But then what should you
expect from boys who are not required to do any physical labor around the house
and whose chief entertainment are video games and television? And those boys who
shun the television only to spend all of their time in books are no better!
Reading is a great and wonderful exercise, but it must not exclude the learning
of practical skills. In addition to intellectual skills, practical skills are
necessary for the godly character they produce in our sons.

Homeschool Convention entitled, The Value of Practical Skills. If you

Practica Interviewing for Fun and Profit IIILast
time we talked about how to record your interviews or talks on a personal
digital recorder, your personal computer or via a company that records phone
calls. This time we will discuss what to do with the recording once you have it.The
first thing you will want to do is crop the unwanted parts. Download
your audio file into your computer (if it is not already in there) and
then open that file in a audio-editing software like Sound Forge, AVS
Audio or Audacity. AVS Audio is an inexpensive audio editor that you
cab download off the internet. It will edit audios, change the format
(MP3, WAV, Windows Media, etc) and even change the bit rate. The
problem with AVS Audio is that it edits very slow. (To find any of
these products, do a Google search on the name)So, here is what I do:1.
I download my audio file from my digital recorder into my laptop.2. I
use AVS Audio to change the digital recorder file to a WAV file so that
Audacity can read the file.3. I then edit the sound file in Audacity,
because Audacity is very fast. I cut out the first part of a talk where
someone is introducing me or perhaps I was fooling with the microphone.
I then cut out the last part where people come up to me after the talk
and ask where my booth is or what have you. I can then add music on the
front and back end if I want to (just copy the music WAV file and paste
it into the existing sound file in Audacity). I can even add some cool
effects like fade in, fade out and even amplification or diminish.4. I
then export my edited sound file from Audacity as a WAV file to my hard
drive and use my CD burning software that came with my laptop to create
a CD.Now, all I have to do is buy some blank DVD cases and labels from
the local office supply store. I print my labels, apply them to the CD,
make a cover insert for the DVD cover, put my brochure in the media
clip and voila...I am selling my very own CD's, baby!It really is this
easy. Now if you want the scoop on how and where to sell these CD's
online, you may want to check out Andy Jenkin's Online
Store Profits. In short, this Ebook teaches you all you need to know to
make money on the internet, including:
· How to determine demand and competition
· How to choose a product
· Where to find those products wholesale
· How to get customers to your site
· How to accept different forms of payment
· How to replicate this model over and over to form multiple streams of income
· And much, much more!
Best of all, it is written in a very friendly, down to earth
way by a husband and wife (Andy and Audrey) who have their own
store(s) online. And they include plenty of real-life examples
as well. Actually, it is two Ebooks in one...how to setup a
online store and how to do it with Yahoo! Stores.
I recommend this one heartily. For most books about how to make
money on the internet, I wind up asking...where's the beef?
Well, this is one of those few Ebooks that has the
BEEF...exactly WHAT to do and HOW to do it! For more information on this
Ebook, please click the link below:
