Tip #17…Men Without Chests/Auto-Responders

Greetings from Moscow, Idaho.
This is Stephen Beck with FamilyEbiz.com.

Before we get started:

I have great news! Another Big Seminar is headed our way in the Fall. I will keep you up to date on the details. As you recall from previous emails, the Big Seminar is hands down the BEST internet marketing seminar on the planet. If you want to jump start your future career in making money on the internet, this is THE seminar you don’t want to miss!

On a side note, many of you know that I am currently attending seminary. Some of you have asked what seminary I attend and what is the reformed faith. Well, I got to preach in Tomball , Texas about precisely that! The title is called, “What is Reformed?” and you can purchase a copy here if you wish:

Biblia

Psalm 112:9-10

His horn will be exalted with honor. 10 The wicked will see it and be grieved; He will gnash his teeth and melt away; The desire of the wicked shall perish.

A few newsletters ago, we talked about the Psalm 112 man and we ended on the reason God prospers righteous men. To spread His glory through their influence AND to bust the chops of the wicked! Actually, I have a true story that illustrates this.

Not too long ago, I had just finished working out at some property we own in Carlos , Texas . On the way home, I stopped to get some gas at a little convenience store. Now, this store is right on the highway and while I was pumping gas, an older couple turned left across the highway into the parking lot. Unfortunately, they crossed right in front of another car going 70 mph.

Of course, the other car hit the brakes and slid to a stop. Both drivers exchanged pleasantries through the windshield and I thought the thing was over. But the driver of the oncoming car had not had enough. He put his car into reverse and came roaring into the parking lot to continue the altercation. I started walking towards the older couple’s car to warn them that now would probably not be a good time to buy some twinkies...that they should probably be moving along. But the driver of the other car beat me to them, and as he got out, I could see that he was a young man and he was flexing his fists ready to fight.

As I was walking over, I remembered Isaiah 6:8. It was almost as if God was saying, “Who will go for Us to defend this older couple?” I thought to myself, “Here am I Lord, send me!” And a funny thing happened. The young driver looked up and saw me walking over and then he looked at the old man. He looked at me again. And then he got in his car and drove away. Now, I do not cut an imposing figure. I doubt he was intimidated by my size. I was not biggest guy in the parking lot, but I was there! I guess he realized it wasn’t worth it. He knew that whatever the outcome, here was someone who would defend the weak.

The Bible tells us that the man of God is not a brawler. And we are not to seek out fights for fighting sake. But there comes a time when we are called to defend the defenseless. Now, some may think I was imprudent. I should have pumped my gas and minded my own business. Others may roll their eyes and say, “Men!” But if you have that attitude, why do you read G.A. Henty books to your kids? Why do you tell them stories of knights who vanquish evil foes? If you want your boys (including your husband) to care about the things that God cares about, then expect them to come home with some black eyes now and then.

C.S. Lewis wrote in the Abolition of Man:

It is not excess of thought but defect of fertile and generous emotion that marks them out.

(He is talking about those who mock chivalry and advocate doing everything for strictly practical reasons…those who hold to no ideals)

Their heads are no bigger than the ordinary: it is the atrophy of the chest beneath that makes them seem so.  And all the time, such is the tragic-comedy of our situation, we continue to clamour for those very qualities we are rendering impossible. In a sort of ghastly simplicity we remove the organ and demand the function. We make men without chests and expect of them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honour and are shocked to find traitors in our midst. We castrate and bid the geldings be fruitful.  (emphasis mine)

We can not expect our sons to become like the Psalm 112 men without the proper perspective and foundation. And we can not shrink away from our responsibilities to rule and reign for our Lord Jesus Christ, just because the world requires men to be geldings. We must learn to lead and overcome first in our homes and then, with our family businesses. And teach our children to do the same.

Practica

One of the great things about an internet is the automation. If you get the right tools (or computer programs), then someone can visit your website (which is “open” 24/7), sign up for your newsletter (by which you tell them about all the cool stuff you have to offer), order your product and pay for it without even waking you up!

But in order for all this to happen, you need to have your business automated. And this is where auto-responders are an immense help. Here is an example. People love my newsletters (and what’s not to love!), but they really need to be read sequentially in order for you to get the maximum benefit. Also, there is too much information to digest all at once. And, I want am selfish enough to want you to read one of my newsletters each week so that I stay in your mind. I do not want you to read all of my wonderful information and then forget about me in 3 weeks!

So, I set up a system of emails that responds to one of your emails. Here is how it works. When you sign up for my newsletter, my auto-responder sends you a thank you and immediately starts sending you one email every week, automatically. If you buy one of my “How to Start Your Own Business...For Families and Teens!” business course on DVD, another auto-responder sends you follow up emails about other products that I sell as well as a way to make money by becoming an affiliate and generating commission by telling your friends about my “How to Start Your Own Business...For Families and Teens!” DVD business course. If you become an affiliate for the DVD course, you get on another auto-responder that sends you tips on how to sell my DVD...well, you get the picture.

Every auto-responder has a specific purpose and helps automate your marketing. Let’s face it. You WILL forget to market. So the auto-responder does it for you. And your clients can opt-out of any or all of your auto-responders.

By the way, there is no other business course geared specifically for Christian families and teens on the planet. With “How to Start a Business...For Families and Teens!”, you get a complete, 8-hour course with workbook on starting a small business from a biblical perspective. I give you all of my secrets as well as my hard earned experiences of having owned several businesses for the last 25 years!!! See for yourself. It comes with a complete money-back guarantee and lots of great bonuses. It is like having me in your living room teaching your family all secrets and practical information you will need to start and run a successful family business. Who knows? Maybe you can someday quit your day-job!
