Are you experiencing success in your online or offline business? If not, it could be due to your mindset, and it is the fundamental concept of internet marketing 101.
I have noticed that some businessmen are going through the motions of doing business, but they are not firmly convinced they can succeed. They even walk around doubting what they are doing and why they are doing it. But it does not have to be this way. There are seven thought patterns you can adopt that will lead you to greater success. I will go over the first two in this article.
1.) The first step is to be thankful.
Develop an attitude of gratitude. Choose to be grateful for where you are and the things God has given you. This attitude can really influence your business.
Once you are aware of all your many blessings, become a person who gives back to others. Do this not so you can get something in return, but just to be generous. You have a lot of skills and talents that others can benefit from, so why not help others? At this point, you may be wondering what all of this has to do with your business. The fact is that what you think about impacts what you do and how you work.
So are you generous? Are you helping those around you? In my homeschool niche, I like to help people choose the right curriculum and help them make it work for them. Hopefully, you are generous with the information you have, too.
2.) The second principle is to be thoughtful.
The words you repeat in your mind can become the realities in your life. What I mean is the stories you hear in your mind can creep in and influence the way you live. Let me illustrate. After each of our webinars, I like to talk to some of the people who attended. When I do this, if I hear any negative comments, it is usually people saying, “I am just not sure I can make any money doing this.” What I find is that this kind of thinking becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
The problem is that if you do not think you can succeed, you probably will not. You will not be able to convincingly sell your product or service. People will not believe in your sales pitch.
Another thing you need to think about is whether you have a hobby or a business. Are you playing at what you are doing or are you taking it seriously. I find that sometimes people are just playing at business. They are not really managing or promoting a business. Maybe right now it seems more like a hobby, but if you are serious about making money, you will want to really consider what you are doing.
Something else to be thoughtful about is your “why.” Why do you do what you do? Then write it down. For me, I put a picture of my family next to mine because they are one of the big reasons why I help with our business. I like to use that extra income to be able to spend time with them. We also use it to reach out to missionaries and to go on mission trips.
So what is your why? Take some time this week and brainstorm some reasons why you are working on your business. Be specific. Instead of saying, “It is because of my family,” say, “I want to go on trips with my kids and grandkids.” You could also say, “I wan to be able to give money to those who are in need,” or “I want to take mission trips at least once a year.” Then, after you write down your list, go public with it.
Take the first lesson in internet marketing 101 and discover if what is in your mind is helping or hurting your business.

I completely agree that my mind plays a huge role in the success of my business. Will you talk about how to stay positive, even when you are discouraged and seeing very few sales?
