Hey,
Last week, we talked about your #1 challenge to starting your own
family business on the Internet…”where do I start?” Remember?
You filled out the survey and told me your top challenges?
Well, we covered that “where to start?” in the last post and we
also showed how my new product, “Secrets to Building Sites that
Sell”, effectively dealt with that question in great detail. See
my last post for all the details.
This week, we are going to address your second biggest
challenge…overcoming the technical hurdles to selling on the
internet. Here are some of your responses:
“I have only basic computer skills.”
“Not very up on technology…”
“Keeping up with the technical problems that arise”
“Limited finances to start up, also technical abilty that is
required.”
“Lack of technical skills.”
“My family’s biggest challenge is getting familiar with all the
technical and entrepreneurial aspects we need to be successful.”
“I have no clue as to how to do it and I am somewhat skeptical.”
And you know what? These people are absolutely right! Why do you
think the selling on the internet is so “untapped”. Because most
people do not have the technical skills to make it happen. And
because there is no where out there where you can find all of the
skills in one place…in an easy to understand format.
Here are the basics you need to know BEFORE so can sell your
first product from your own website:
How to purchase a domain name
-which one will work best for your particular product?
-does this domain name come from a “bad neighboorhood”?
-what if the name you want is already taken?
How to transfer that domain name to your web hosting company
-what do you need to tell your web hosting company
-how do you tell your web hosting company about the DNS?
How to select the right web hosting company
-how much bandwidth do you need?
-should you pay more for FrontPage extensions?
-how easy is it to check those all important stats?
How to create a web page
-how do I create a page that the Search Engines will love?
-how do I add affiliate links to my web page?
-how do I add sound to my web page?
How to add a shopping cart to a web page
-which shopping cart is the best?
-how do I accept payment like credit cards?
-how do I set up the shipping?
-what is an authorized payment gateway and when do I need one?
And these are just the basics! So it is no wonder that many
people are not selling on the internet! But that is to your
advantage.
What if you could come to my house and look over my shoulder and
watch my conmputer screen as I explain how to do all of these
things…simply and quickly? Would that be a huge help to you? If
you saw exactly what I did, mouse click by mouse click, as I
talked you through it…could you overcome the technical barrier?
I know you can!
I know because I have pre-released this course, “Secrets to
Building Sites that Sell”, to a few people who were just like you
and they have been able to set up their own web sites and start
selling products!
And that is why I can safely say:
Now, there is NO EXCUSE for not having a profitable web site
of your own! We have DESTROYED the “I’m Not a Techie” barrier!
Next time we will cover one of the biggest challenges…not
enough time.
Until then,
Stephen Beck

concerns, perhaps I can address them in the comments section.

I would also like to know how to issue a survey as you did for this offering.
Thanks! Lisa
What? Do you expect me to give away all my secrets?!?
Seriously, I created this survey through a service called
surveymonkey.com The free option allows you to create a survey with a maximum of 10 questions and recieve a maximum of 100 responses.
But, of course I got more than 100 responses (and my wife got over 200 on her survey!), so I am paying $20/month to see ALL of my responses and send more than 10 questions.
It is a monthly expense and I can cancel at any time. But do you think I got my $20 worth? You bet! Actually, the information I have gleaned is worth lterally thousands to me.
