<p>I know I need to do it. I know that just a few traffic tactics would swell my online income like the winner in a hot dog eating contest. But I honestly I didn&#8217;t know where to begin.</p>

<td colspan="2" width="594"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>Counting the Days Till Christmas&#8230;</strong></span></span>For most of my adult life, I have not enjoyed Christmas. The stress, the running here and there &#8230;the dealing with cantankerous family members. And when the day finally came, I couldn&#8217;t help but feel a little depressed when all the gifts were opened.Is that all there is&#8230;But a funny thing happened when I was preparing a sermon in seminary. The sermon was, of course, on Christmas!</p>
<p>I studied in the Old Testament how a promise was given to Adam and Eve (Gen 4:25-26). Then the same promise is restated again to Abraham 2000 years later.</p>
<p>Then again to David 1000 years after that! (2 Sam 7:12-16)</p>
<p>Like pieces of a puzzle, each new promise brought more clarity, but also more questions. And finally 300 years later, a lot more clues were given to Isaiah.</p>
<p>So many clues, in fact, that it seemed that the Messiah coming was just around the corner.But 300 years go by and still no Messiah. 300 years in which Israel is led captive to Assyria and Judah is led captive to Babylon.</p>
<p>300 years and not a word, until they do get another clue in Malachi.And then&#8230;400 years of silence.</p>
<p>Now, if I am a Jew in the first century waiting for Messiah, I am exhausted!</p>
<p>&#8220;We have been waiting for the Messiah for 4000 years since our father, Adam. There was a flurry of hope and excitement 700 years ago during Isaiah’s time, but we haven’t heard much since then.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Where is He? Why has He not come? Why are we still oppressed?&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Has He forgotten? What about all the promises?&#8221;</p>

<td width="61%">Stress-Free Christmas! This seems quite evident, but it took me a decade to apply this. Actually, my marvelous husband helped me learn how to minimize the<br />
activity in our lives during the Christmas season.</p>
<p>Back then, <strong>I wanted the children to experience everything available during Christmas</strong>. Instead, stress and nervousness crept up and finally would explode around Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. &#8230;I’m positive that none of you have gone through this before <img src='http://www.familyebiz.com/blog/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' /> </td>

<p>WHICH ACTIVITIES DO I SELECT</p>
<p>What works for us is to select 1 or 2 Christmas activities to go to outside our home. Other than those 2 activities, most time is spent in our home. This way I’m not harboring stress by bothering my husband to attend one more Christmas activity each week. He is still providing for our family and loving it. Therefore, he is much happier going to a few activities and enjoying being with family and friends at home.</p>
<p>We enjoy having other people in our home, so we take advantage on this.<strong> Our kids help in the cleaning and cooking, so our workload is minimized and I do not feel stressed when our visitors come.</strong></p>
<p>HAVE FUN AT HOME</p>
<p>Back then, I would had more activities for us than we have time for. In our recent Thanksgiving weekend, I picked which activities will wait until next year.</p>
<p>REMEMBER: YOU CAN’T DO EVERY THING, EVERY YEAR.</p>
<p>I try to select activities that inspire my children to do something for others, instead of only thinking of themselves during the holiday season. One of the things we used to do is charity work by<br />
raising money for a missionary family. The kids would take orders for pumpkin bread loaves and chocolate chip cookies. After making and delivering them to their customers, they would pay me back for the ingredients and supplies used. <strong>The remaining money was their profit, which was used to buy useful gifts for a missionary family.</strong></p>
<p>This season we will have other kids over to bake cookies so their moms can do some Christmas shopping, uninterrupted. A Christmas card stamping party for younger kids would be a great idea for an activity. I&#8217;m still thinking it over how that will work.</p>
<p>I have some other ideas that are included in Advent, Christmas &amp; Epiphany Celebration Ideas.</p>
<p>INCORPORATE CHRISTMAS IN YOUR SCHOOL ACTIVITIES</p>
<p>For school-aged children, drop some of your formal schoolwork and have fun during this season. There are myriad of ways of incorporating math, writing &amp; reading concepts as we do baking,<br />
shopping and preparing for Christmas day. At home, we still read aloud each morning and then proceed to work on a Christmas activity. It may be handwork type crafts or other quiet easy to do activity.</p>
<p>DO YOU FEEL A TREMENDOUS NERVOUS STRAIN DURING THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS?</p>
<p>Stop and take a moment right now and prioritize all the activities you and your family want to do. <strong>Pick only 1 or 2 activities that the entire family can enjoy and pass on the rest. </strong>Being at home with your family is enjoyable. Invite another family over to roast marshmallows and mingle with them. At the center of this Christmas activity, keep your hearts tuned to Jesus Christ. Without His love for us, we would not be celebrating the true meaning of Christmas.</p>
<p>But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8</p>
<p>For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God. Ephesians 2:8</p>

<p>As many of you know, I have some property out in the country about 30 minutes from my house. And many of you also know my dog absolutely LOVES going out there with me.</p>
<p>The only problem? The main reason I go out there is to shoot my pistol and she doesn&#8217;t like gun fire! She will follow me all over the land, but as soon as I pull out my pistol, she disappears to the pond and then lays under an abandoned van I have out there for storage.</p>
<p>Yesterday, my daughter and I took my rifle out to the Lazy B (my &#8220;pet&#8221; name for the property) to sight in the scope. Of course Midnight becomes scarce when she hears the booming rifle. We sight the rifle in and start to leave.</p>
<p><strong>Where&#8217;s Midnight?</strong></p>
<p>Not at the pond. Not under the van. Nowhere. For 7 years she has been coming to the Lazy B (every other weekend) and has never disappeared.</p>
<p>I looked everywhere on the property. The pond. The barn. The outhouse. The woods. Everywhere. I even drove to a couple neighboring properties, but no one was home. I had to get home for a dentist appointment at 2pm, but made plans to come back afterwards and bring fliers for my neighbors.</p>
<p><strong>Leaving my property and driving home was one of the hardest things I&#8217;ve ever done in my life.</strong> I knew if I left, the chances of finding her would drop dramatically.</p>
<p>Driving home, every dark shape on the side of the road &#8230;every dead animal &#8230;caused a lump to form in my throat. What am I going to tell my wife? What am I going to tell the kids? Midnight&#8217;s been a part of our lives for 11 years!</p>
<p>I finished my dentist appointment (need 2 crowns!) and made some fliers and headed back to the Lazy B. On the way, I handed some fliers out to the corner bait shop and a few biker bars near my property. Maybe they would spot Midnight when they headed home.</p>
<p>I thought the rough, burly bikers would laugh about a lost dog, <strong>but they were ready to hop on their bikes and search for her!</strong></p>
<p>Finally, I made it back to the Lazy B, but no sign of Midnight. So I started putting fliers in the mailboxes of my neighbors. One of my neighbors didn&#8217;t have a mailbox on the road, so I pulled in the dirt road driveway to put a flier on his front door.</p>
<p>As I approached the door, I heard a rustling under his pickup truck. Now when you&#8217;re in the country, people let their dogs hang out while they&#8217;re gone and I&#8217;m thinking,<strong> &#8220;Oh great! I&#8217;m about to get eaten by my neighbor&#8217;s dog!&#8221;</strong></p>
<p>And guess who pops out from under my neighbor&#8217;s truck! Midnight! I guess she didn&#8217;t like the rifle sound enough to run a half-mile away and hide under this guy&#8217;s truck!</p>
<p>Needless to say, I was VERY happy.</p>
<p>I stopped by the biker bar just to let them know that I found Midnight and <strong>the whole bar went crazy!</strong> I could&#8217;ve had free drinks till Christmas!</p>
<p>Wow, what a happy ending.</p>

How should you handle that request? This article does not discuss giving products away to friends and family. That is your choice. Also not up for discussion here is giving bonus ebooks away as a special promotion. That is a specific marketing strategy that can be discussed at another time. What this article discusses is the concept of people contacting you out of nowhere and asking for your product for free.</p>
<p><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-804" title="free-article-50" src="http://www.familyebiz.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/free-article-50.jpg" alt="free-article-50" width="200" height="178" />On a regular basis someone contacts me requesting that I give away my course to them for free. Actually, this happens to me almost daily. Typically, the exchange will go as follows, &#8220;I just figured I would give it a shot. I was wondering if I could get your product for free?&#8221; While I normally do not respond in the way I am tempted to respond, I often wonder what that person would think about me if I came to his or her house asking for free stuff? Or if I waltzed into her place of work and asked her to give me what she sells at her job free of charge? Of course if I did that, the answer would be no. Yet people still ask me for my products for free. I always respond that they need to pay for them so they will value it. Besides that, I do spend time and money on my products, so I too need to make a profit.</p>
<p>Case in point, there are a number of ebooks that I have on my computer that I never read. Why is that the case? The reason why is they were giving away free ebooks rather than selling information. If I would have spent $27 for them, I would read them because I want the money I spent to be worth the sacrifice financially. However because they were free, there is no value attached to them, so I normally do not read them. Since I do not have all the time in the world to read free ebooks, it is not a high priority to make time.</p>
<p>This is something that I deal with on a regular basis so I am very familiar with it. Another technique that many people use is they will ask me if they can receive my product for free and then pay me once they have used my product to make money. The issue is people with this mindset will never make money. They might be very well intentioned. However, because they have not invested any money into the process they are lacking a critical component that is necessary in order to be successful. Therefore, they will not make money and I would give all of my products away for free without making any money in return. Since I have my own family to support, this will not work. Besides, there is an investment that I have to make to produce these products. The bottom line is you need to invest in the products to get value out of the products. This is true in most areas of life. If there is not some cost associate with something, there is also little value associated with that thing.</p>
<p>Consider how I do business. There is a huge demand for people looking to make money online. They are looking for the exact steps that they can take. They want to be held by the hand and walked through the process. This is what I specialize in and is why I do well. I create step-by-step video tutorials that show people how to get into profit mode quickly. If you do the same in whatever market you decide to target, you will have products in high demand and will be very effective at selling information.</p>

You need to create a reward system for customers who take action. Whether you are marketing online or marketing offline, whether you are marketing a service, marketing a physical product, or selling digital products, there must be a sense of urgency. There must also be a loss for those who do not buy now.</p>
<p>Creating a sense of urgency by using scarcity is one way. If you are hosting a webinar you can do this buy saying &#8220;this offer is only available until 11:59 tomorrow evening.&#8221; By utilizing a time limit, the people who are in position to buy but are holding off will be motivated to buy. Without utilizing a time limit, they might never buy from you even though they want to.</p>
<p>You can also drive prospects to take action on your business webinars by limiting supply. If you say &#8220;There are only 150 copies of this item,&#8221; people know there is a risk you might run out. Make sure the reason you limit copies makes sense. Saying &#8220;only 150 copies because I feel like it&#8221; will not work.</p>
<p>As for how you can limit quality with credibility, there are several strategies you can employ. Take for instance personal coaching. You can use time restrictions to limit your availability. As for seminars, the amount of space available allows you to set limits on the number of seats sold. If you are dealing with a physical product, you have to produce a certain amount of copies so you can leverage that to your advantage. This way your prospects will understand why availability is limited.</p>
<p>Another quantity technique, like for market trading products, is &#8220;I am only going to put out 100 because I need to limit the impact on the market. If everyone gets access to these strategies it will hurt us all.&#8221; This way you can use market impact as an excuse to limit quantity to increase urgency in the sales process.</p>
<p>The previous techniques deal with sense of urgency but using fear of loss on business webinars is also important. By presenting a potential loss in the mind of your prospect, this can be a powerful motivator for taking action. For instance, if you say &#8220;free shipping to the first 50 buyers,&#8221; this will motivate some people on the fence to take action.</p>
<p>Considering these scenarios, you should have a greater understanding why you need to drive your prospects to take action now. To really increase your conversions, you should also include a penalty if they do not buy now. One of the easiest penalties to implement is a price increase after a certain period of time. Another strategy is you can simply take the product off the market or take parts of it off the market. Whatever you do, the key is to identify the penalty and communicate it to your prospective customers clearly.</p>
<p>Live events are a great way to create scarcity. Business webinars can only support a certain amount of people. A live event location only has a certain amount of space. You can create an event out of anything if you really think about it.</p>
<p>Say you are celebrating your 11th anniversary. You can use that event as a promotion for your product. The promotion can consist of a sale of your product for 11 days. The 1st day has the lowest price and each day the price increases. Once the 11th day passes, the product is pulled from the market. This way your prospects have a daily sense of urgency and fear of loss to take action. Business webinars are an excellent way to communicate and implement this.</p>
<p>In conclusion, remember that you need to reward people who do business with you now. You need to penalize the ones that do not do business with you now so that if they are on the fence, they will decide to do business with you sooner.</p>

Done correctly, it can significantly simplify the process of identifying the best prospects so that you know how to focus your marketing efforts.</p>
<p>Think about this: if somebody registers for my webinar, well that is a big indicator right there that the person is interested in what I have to say. If they attend my webinar they are even more interested. If they stay on my webinar for sixty minutes, they are really, really interested. The person who stays until the end of the webinar and fills out my exit survey is even more interested.</p>
<p>The bottom line is that you will not get a 100% conversion from marketing webinars for your products and services. The majority of the people who attend your webinar will not make a buying decision immediately. Using this qualification strategy allows you to do a more effective job at following up.</p>
<p><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-737" title="raise-hand-article-552" src="http://www.familyebiz.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/raise-hand-article-552-200x300.jpg" alt="raise-hand-article-552" width="200" height="300" />You stand a much better chance at making money by following up with responders to a webinar than those who did not respond to your webinar. What a responder has done is raise their hands and essentially indicate that they are interested in what you have to say. If your prospective customers have not raised their hands, should you market to them before those who have? Of course not! The reason why is because someone who has responded is significantly more likely to buy from you if you have the right follow up. Non-responders can be a waste of time and money.</p>
<p>With marketing webinars you know exactly who are the best prospects to spend your time and effort on. Using this strategy shows you who are most likely to make a decision to purchase your product or service and which customers you should spend your efforts following up with.</p>
<p>A webinar is a great way to identify interested people, who are interested in your products and services. You know before spending a dime that they are a much better investment than the general public.</p>
