Every civilization has a rite of passage for those in their group that move from “student” to a contributing member of the group able to fend for themselves. You find it in the martial arts, in the working world, in the medical world (look up “white coat ceremony”) and in the animal kingdom!
There comes a point when the “apprentice” learns his craft and then launches on his own …but with his own unique style …his own unique product. He has relied heavily on his “tutor”, but now he/she is ready to take those skills and try them in the “real world”.
Today is THAT DAY for one of my apprentices. Actually it is a partnership of two gentlemen working together and they are having their first webinar today, March 30 at 9pm (Eastern). Their names are Greg Weldy and Joel Plangman and they are sharing “How to cope with an aging parent – without going broke or crazy!”
This is timely information that all of us should know – because taking care of our aging parents involves so much of our time, money and emotions! Recruit Some Secret Agents to Build Your Business!

When you think of the perfect business, what comes to mind? For most people, the perfect business runs itself. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if you could automate your website so it would sell your products even while you sleep? Well, you can!
One day, along comes a visitor to your site. She sees an invitation to your newsletter, and though she is already flooded with e-mails, she is intrigued.
“Hey, I like the way this guy thinks. He makes a lot of sense. I’d like to read that newsletter and see what else he has to say.
Autoresponder number 1 has worked.
(This is called a contact management online autoresponder, but don’t let the big name scare you!)
As your visitor reads the newsletter, she appreciates your honest evaluation of your products. She sees something that’s perfect for her, and decides to buy it.
Immediately after she makes her purchase, she gets an e-mail. Shes delighted to learn that she has received an added bonus, a free gift with her purchase.
Autoresponder number 2 has done his job.
The following week, a third auto responder generates an e-mail for your customer. She’s happy that you have taken the time to ask how she enjoys the product, the service, and the value. She is asked for a testimonial that you can share with others on your website which she gladly e-mails back.
Autoresponder number 3 has done its job.
Each week your customer gets another email helping them with the product and explaining things the product can do. The emails also give your customer tips on how to use the product to expand their business or how to make more beautiful scrapbooks or how to save money on their next purchase or how to build a free website without pay…or whatever your product is about.
This helps keep your customer happy and reduces the likelihood that they will return your product. Remember, many people will not even use your product (especially information products), unless you encourage them to do so.
Autoresponders #4 – #10 have done their jobs.
Of course, clients that are interested in a $10 e-book may also be interested in your more expensive home study course. Perhaps there are other opportunities for cross marketing. By tracking the preferences of each client, and speaking directly to their preferences and desires, you can increase sales.
Your customer will get personalized e-mails, recommending products similar to the ones that have already been purchased. She sees the benefits, and has been looking for this product for ages. Thank goodness you just brought it to her attention.
She clicks on the link and buys the related product. Autoresponder number 11 has done its job.
I hope you are seeing the value of my secret agents, autoresponders #1 – #11. They work while I am doing other things-like developing product, spending time with my family and yes, even while I am sleeping.

When you get on the internet and try to decipher all the home business options, it can be overwhelming. At least it’s overwhelming to me. So, I’d like to share with you the criteria I’ve used in choosing what business opportunities to pursue on a regular basis.
1. Something I Believe In
If I didn’t make a dime from this product or service, would I still recommend it? This reminds me of the early days of Southwest Airlines. One of the biggest reasons I told people that I fly Southwest is their on-time record. It seemed that every time we flew Southwest we were either on-time or early. When I look for a business opportunity, I want to offer a spectacular product or service that I would use even if I didn’t make money from it.
2. Solves a Bad Problem for a Huge, Growing Market
We teach this concept to our students. It is vital that you solve a problem in a niche. If you aren’t solving a huge problem, no one is going to buy it. It’s the same with business opportunities you’re given. They must solve a huge problem. What is even better is when there is little competition. Notice I didn’t say “no competition”. Competition is healthy and it tells you there is demand for that product. But, it’s a plus if your competition is low.
3. Stable, Solid, Debt-Free Company
When you work with another company, it should be stable & solid. One of the best tests is the amount of debt a company holds. Ideally, I think you should find a debt-free company. This is rare in today’s marketplace, but it is definitely possible.
4. Provides Marketing Tools that are Tried & Tested
You don’t want to develop your own marketing tools. At least I think it’s much easier to use marketing tools that have already been tested to work. When you evaluate home business options, be sure there are marketing tools that actually work and are simple to use. One of my tests is the 8 year old test. If an 8 year old could use the marketing tools to tell a friend about your product or service, could he be successful? It ought to be that SIMPLE…brain-dead simple!
5. Opportunity for Large, Passive Income
Although this is the last criteria, it is certainly not the least one to consider. In fact, I think this is one of the most important criteria in choosing a home business. One of the reasons we work from home is Freedom & Choices. We choose when we want to work. We choose whom we work with. We choose where we work. We have the freedom to make these choices.
Why is that? We have passive income each month…”mailbox money”. This allows us the freedom to reach outside ourselves to do mission work and to spend more time with our family. Does your home business give you real, residual income to allow you these freedoms and choices?
As you evaluate your home business options, be sure that each of these criteria are met. You’ll have more success and more fun along the way.
