Counting the Days Till Christmas…For most of my adult life, I have not enjoyed Christmas. The stress, the running here and there …the dealing with cantankerous family members. And when the day finally came, I couldn’t help but feel a little depressed when all the gifts were opened.Is that all there is…But a funny thing happened when I was preparing a sermon in seminary. The sermon was, of course, on Christmas!

I studied in the Old Testament how a promise was given to Adam and Eve (Gen 4:25-26). Then the same promise is restated again to Abraham 2000 years later.

Then again to David 1000 years after that! (2 Sam 7:12-16)

Like pieces of a puzzle, each new promise brought more clarity, but also more questions. And finally 300 years later, a lot more clues were given to Isaiah.

So many clues, in fact, that it seemed that the Messiah coming was just around the corner.But 300 years go by and still no Messiah. 300 years in which Israel is led captive to Assyria and Judah is led captive to Babylon.

300 years and not a word, until they do get another clue in Malachi.And then…400 years of silence.

Now, if I am a Jew in the first century waiting for Messiah, I am exhausted!

“We have been waiting for the Messiah for 4000 years since our father, Adam. There was a flurry of hope and excitement 700 years ago during Isaiah’s time, but we haven’t heard much since then.”

“Where is He? Why has He not come? Why are we still oppressed?”

“Has He forgotten? What about all the promises?”

Have a Stress-Free Christmas …by Kerry Beck

Stress-Free Christmas! This seems quite evident, but it took me a decade to apply this. Actually, my marvelous husband helped me learn how to minimize the
activity in our lives during the Christmas season.

Back then, I wanted the children to experience everything available during Christmas. Instead, stress and nervousness crept up and finally would explode around Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. …I’m positive that none of you have gone through this before

WHICH ACTIVITIES DO I SELECT

What works for us is to select 1 or 2 Christmas activities to go to outside our home. Other than those 2 activities, most time is spent in our home. This way I’m not harboring stress by bothering my husband to attend one more Christmas activity each week. He is still providing for our family and loving it. Therefore, he is much happier going to a few activities and enjoying being with family and friends at home.

We enjoy having other people in our home, so we take advantage on this. Our kids help in the cleaning and cooking, so our workload is minimized and I do not feel stressed when our visitors come.

HAVE FUN AT HOME

Back then, I would had more activities for us than we have time for. In our recent Thanksgiving weekend, I picked which activities will wait until next year.

REMEMBER: YOU CAN’T DO EVERY THING, EVERY YEAR.

I try to select activities that inspire my children to do something for others, instead of only thinking of themselves during the holiday season. One of the things we used to do is charity work by
raising money for a missionary family. The kids would take orders for pumpkin bread loaves and chocolate chip cookies. After making and delivering them to their customers, they would pay me back for the ingredients and supplies used. The remaining money was their profit, which was used to buy useful gifts for a missionary family.

This season we will have other kids over to bake cookies so their moms can do some Christmas shopping, uninterrupted. A Christmas card stamping party for younger kids would be a great idea for an activity. I’m still thinking it over how that will work.

I have some other ideas that are included in Advent, Christmas & Epiphany Celebration Ideas.

INCORPORATE CHRISTMAS IN YOUR SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

For school-aged children, drop some of your formal schoolwork and have fun during this season. There are myriad of ways of incorporating math, writing & reading concepts as we do baking,
shopping and preparing for Christmas day. At home, we still read aloud each morning and then proceed to work on a Christmas activity. It may be handwork type crafts or other quiet easy to do activity.

DO YOU FEEL A TREMENDOUS NERVOUS STRAIN DURING THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS?

Stop and take a moment right now and prioritize all the activities you and your family want to do. Pick only 1 or 2 activities that the entire family can enjoy and pass on the rest. Being at home with your family is enjoyable. Invite another family over to roast marshmallows and mingle with them. At the center of this Christmas activity, keep your hearts tuned to Jesus Christ. Without His love for us, we would not be celebrating the true meaning of Christmas.

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God. Ephesians 2:8

I Love God AND I Love Business …gotta problem with that?

Thanksgiving is 2 days away and I am thankful for something that may make you feel uncomfortable. I’m thankful that Kerry and I have tripled our six-figure business in the last 12 months, even in a down economy.Now you may be thinking, “How can you say a thing like that when so many are struggling to make ends meet right now! Shouldn’t you be thankful for intangible things like family and friends?”

Yes, I am very thankful for my family and friends, but I am also thankful for the success that God is giving to my online business (and the online businesses of my students). I would be crazy not to be thankful for His provisions, because I love God and I love business at the same time!

That probably makes even more people feel uncomfortable! But if you don’t love what you’re doing, then why are you doing it? And one of the cool things I get to do is share with you EXACTLY what makes my business successful.

Ricky Nelson and Your Home Internet Business

I’m not the type of guy that plans everything out. I tend to start a lot of projects rolling and then see which ones are profitable. This is great if you take criticism and rejection well. Unfortunately I’m not that type of person.You see, I’m not the type of person that likes to poke his nose in the business of others. I don’t have a problem with helping someone with advice if they ask for it, but I don’t offer advice without being asked first.

That said, there are a lot of people who are just the opposite and have no problem with sharing their opinion, solicited or unsolicited. If you do things in a public light, many people will have their opinions about what you do and how you do it. This certainly applies if you are running a home internet business.

There are plenty of critics out there to point out your flaws as an owner of a home internet business.

They know every mistake you make as soon as you make it and are quick to tell you about it. Some of them even make accusations based upon what they perceive to be your hidden motive behind the business decisions you make.

Some of these critics will send long emails analyzing your every move and what your “real plan” is. Never mind the fact that they don’t know you from Adam. They’ve made up their mind …and you are always in the wrong.

It all reminds me of a song that I enjoyed as a kid by Ricky Nelson. Ricky was the son of Ozzie and Harriet. For most of his career he wrote a lot of malt shop 50’s type songs, but in the 70’s he made a shift in his music. One time in October of 71, he performed at a Rock n Roll concert that was held at Madison Square Garden. He had a completely different hairstyle, different clothes and different music as well.

Unfortunately for Ricky, the crowd didn’t appreciate these changes and halfway through the show he was literally booed off the stage. After the show, Ricky wrote down how he felt using the following lyrics:

“I went to a Garden Party, to reminisce with my old friends, a chance to share some memories, and play our songs again.”

“When I got to the Garden Party, they all knew my name, but no one heard the music- I didn’t look the same.”

“But it’s all right now. I learned my lesson well. You see you can’t please everyone so you gotta please yourself.”

Ricky later entitled these lyrics “Garden Party” and it became one of his best selling songs of his career. Even though he went against the crowd, he ended up being better for it in the end.

Ricky’s personal anthem was as follows, “you can’t please everyone, so you gotta please yourself.” I would also add, you “gotta please the Lord.”

So what’s the lesson in this? Do not get discouraged by your critics. Most of them do not have a home internet business anyway! Seek the Lord for direction, decide what you want to do and do it with all of your ability.

Back in the Saddle Again!It’s been a long time since I’ve been on a mission trip.During the years I owned a construction company, I was able to go to Nicaragua, Haiti and many times to Mexico. They were great trips. We did work projects during the day and ministry projectsin the evenings.But in the year prior to seminary and my years during seminary, I wasn’t able to swing a mission trip, time-wise or financially. So, it’s been a long time since I’ve been on a mission trip.

But that’s about to change!

Kerry and I are looking at going to either the Dominican Republic or East Asia this year. Or maybe both. This has been a long-time dream for me – to allow my Internet business to fund mission
trips!

I want to take a moment an share my delight about the results of being an 8 Weeks to Profits customer. We purchased the program about a year ago. At that time we had few sales, a small email list and very little visibility.

Just ask!

You can learn useful information about your business,customers, and potential customers by conducting a survey. If you have a list of e-mail addresses of your customersand prospects you can send them an e-mail containing a link which leads to a survey on your site.

What is the benefit to you? You get knowledge, and knowledge is a powerful toolin tailoring your business and services to yourcustomers’ needs. You can ask questions like:

- How could our web site be more informative to you?

- What products or services should we offer in the future?

- Please rate our customer service?

- What is your age?

It is important to ask questions that will get you the answers you want. If you want suggestions from your viewers, asking if they simply like your site doesn’t give you enough information. And providing a list of radio buttons or check boxes streamlines answers even more. Plus research has shown that folks are more likely to answer if all they have to do is click.

What is the benefit to the people taking your survey?

Well, there has to be some benefit. Providing an incentive is a good way to insure responses. That
could be in the form of a freebie, useful information, an entry into a sweepstakes, or anything else you think your customers would like.

How do you do this?

Create a form on your web site to ask questions. Having the responses of that form emailed directly to your email box makes it easiest.

A Personal Message From Stephen and Kerry

Too many early mornings this week! Normally I wake up when I’m finished sleeping (no alarm clocks for this Internet marketer!) But every Tuesday, I have to get up at 5:15am to teach a men’s biblestudy at 6am. I know, I know. If that’s the hardest thing I have to suffer through, then I’m a pretty lucky guy!

But I also have to get up at 2am this Saturday because I’m taking my daughter duck hunting. It will be our last hunting trip before she becomes a married woman. Duck hunting has always been one of our favorite activities together. My other two kids never liked cold weather, wet waders and shotguns …but Ashley always did!So, it will be another early morning this week. But the cool thing about running an Internet business is that I can come home and go to bed …without getting yelled at by the boss!

Our Students Are Successful!

I met Kerry and Steve at Yanik Silver’s Underground Seminar, got on their mailing list and within a short time purchased “8 Weeks to Profit”. I devoured it. I went through all the material in a week and then had it by my side through every step of the product completion and marketing.

When I started I didn’t know the difference between anchor text and an autoresponder! I knew how to send email and shop online, but that was it. My husband and son always teased me about computer illiterate, but not anymore.

I have my first information product, “The Truth About FSBO Complete Selling System”. I promote it as a “total realtor replacement system” for people who want to sell their house “for sale by owner”.

I have also just released a second product, “FSBO 2.0 Blueprint” which focuses on how the internet and technology has changed the way houses are now sold. I’ve come a long way in a short time. I now consider myself an internet marketer who does real estate investing rather than a real estate investor who does internet marketing.

I want to say that I could have never gotten my project off the ground without “8 Weeks to Profits”. I needed a calm and patient voice like Steve virtually holding my hand through the
process.

Once I got my product and website ready, I put it on Clickbank. I immediately had lots of affiliates promoting it. I’ve mainly used article marketing to generate traffic and just started doing videos.

What I Learned From My Internet Mastermind Event

A few months ago our daughter Ashley came with us to our mastermind event in Florida. Our group meets 3 times a year to discuss internet business opportunity strategies. My husband attended a power boating
event with some of the other guys. He had a blast getting out on the water.

My daughter and I had other plans. We decided to do a girls day at the spa. It was a great experience getting pampered with massages, pedicures and manicures. We then had an incredible lunch poolside surrounded by waterfalls.While we did have fun that isn’t the only thing we did. We also spent a significant amount of time

masterminding. Each of us shared what was working well for us in our business as well as what we needed help with. While I cannot share everything (because of confidentiality), here is what we are going to do.

1. Joint Venture Partnerships: One of the benefits of the mastermind event is the number of joint venture opportunities available. There are 4 other members of the mastermind that we are going to be working together with on a few projects. We are also going to be doing some joint ventures with some of the guests of our mastermind members. The guests that attend typically have an internet business opportunity as well so we can work with them also. Joint ventures in the past have increased our sales 50%.

2. Doing Webinars For New Subscribers: Every month we are going to offer a monthly webinar for all our new subscribers. On this webinar we are going to teach them how to create an info product. We will also give them an opportunity to work with us on an info product as well.

3. More videos for our business: Why are we are doing more videos? – They give us additional promotion for our products and web site. – They help our search engine optimization efforts by giving us more back links. – They help us make more money from our affiliate promotions. – We believe they will increase our webinar attendance. We are going to create a video registration page for our webinars to see if it increases our conversion rate. We should have an idea soon after we test it.

The mastermind event was a smashing success for us. Thanks to it, we have a number of key takeaways to run with for our internet business opportunity and you can apply many of these takeaways to your business also.

A Personal Message From Stephen and Kerry

Every business has it’s frustrations. Even an Internet business. And this week was one of those weeks.First the server went down. Then the server came back up, but only a trickle of emails where getting through. Finally, the server people flipped a switch and we got 2000 emails in one day!

Or the time when we had a customer return a course 11 months after he bought it (a month before the refund period was over) and claimed that the information didn’t work. I looked on his site and
he was using MY squeeze page template and had a dozen ebooks he created using MY COURSE. Doesn’t work my foot!

So, every business has its frustrations. But do you want to know the antidote?

Thankfulness.

I thank God for my lovely and talented wife who helps me immeasurably to run this business.

I thank God for my 3 great children, each one pursuing their own dream.

I thank God for a house, 5 cars and 30 acres that are totally paid for (by His grace, not my brains!).

I could go on and on, but most of all I thank God for a relationship with His Son. When things get frustrating and people do stupid things, I make myself stop and remember all the gifts and
blessings God has given me.

And then I recall how much worse it was when I ran a construction company!

Recording Your Webinar The Easy Way!

Recording webinars is very simple if you just use a few tricks
and have two computers.

Use your primary computer (mac or pc) to broadcast your webinar. I use the webinar service called GoToWebinar by Citrix because it is inexpensive and allows me up to 1000 attendees on a webinar at one time. Other webinar services have sliding scales and get very expensive in a hurry! Also, GoToWebinar allows you to have as many webinars in a month as you want. This is nice if you want to eexperiment by recording a few “dummy webinars”!

I don’t use the recording function offered by most webinar services because I want to make totally sure that I get a clean recording. I’ve seen too many mishaps with outside recording services and you only have one shot at this. Also, I hate dealing with all the crazy files that different webinar services record in. Just record and edit in Camtasia and you’ll be fine!

So start broadcasting a webinar on your primary computer and then login as an attendee on your “recording computer”. Then open Camtasia on your recording computer and set the recording “box” for 640 x 480. You will also want to set the audio to the manual input setting.

Here’s a little trick to keep the echo and feedback down. Get a cord from the electronics store that has an 1/8″ jack on each end. Plug one end into the microphone hole and the other end into the headset hole and you will have a continuous loop. This allows you to talk as loud as you want and not have feedback or echo when your recording computer is right next to you.

Back to the actual recording part. Once you have the green recording box from Camtasia on, you need to resize your webinar to fit inside that box. Hit the record button, watch the sound levels and presto, you have a professional grade recording.

Now all you have to do is save that recording and edit it in Camtasia. Then render it for whatever application you need: CD, blog, web site, etc.

A Personal Message From Stephen and Kerry

Did you know that 86% of all information products go unread?

Wow! People pay hundreds of dollars for a solution to their problem and then never bother to use it. Why is that? Maybe, it’s because we are social animals. We are built for relationship. We
learn best when the information is explained and demonstrated right in front of us.

We also do best when people are there to encourage us and hold us accountable. How many marriages would survive if there where no in-laws, family or friends to help see us through the rough spots.

That’s why I encourage everyone to go to a least one live event or workshop this year regarding their online business. You will find people there who will encourage you and support you. You will be inspired by their triumphs and ideas. You will be spurred on to take action.

But you will also find accountability. I have a Master Mind meeting on January 13 and there will be 15 people asking me what I have accomplished in the last 3 months. That is a lot of
accountability! It forces me to set deadlines, generate products and improve the things I’ve already got going.

So, go to a LIVE event this year. There is a very inexpensive one listed below and it’s only one day so you won’t spend a fortune in hotel costs and food. But whatever you do, go out and meet some
people who are like-minded, will hold you accountable to your goals and dreams, and will give you the encouragement and support you need to succeed!

3 Big Reasons to Attend a Live Event

It’s amazing how many people from all over the world STILL attend live events, seminars and workshops hoping to improve their own small business. You would think that with the coming of webinars, online meetings and U-stream, that live events would die a quick death.

So why would all these people leave the comfort of their own homes to cram into a meeting room with a bunch of strangers for two full days? They know they don’t have all the answers and they also realize the benefits of attending a LIVE event seminar or workshop.

Let me share with you 3 reasons you should attend one as well.

Reason #1 – Life-Changing Content

When I attend a well-organized workshop or seminar, I’m astonished at the amount of content the speakers give in their talks. Last weekend, I came home with a notebook full of ideas and
notes that I could implement immediately.

Speakers have to give really good nuggets from the stage to prove they know their stuff. And those nuggets are pure gold for the person wanting to improve their online or offline business!

Reason #2 – Contacts You Won’t Get With E-Mail or the Phone

A weekend conference allows small business owners to network and find others to create joint ventures. When I eat lunch with other entrepreneurs, I usually always walk away with a new tip or a
partner for a new project.

Just last weekend at lunch, I found a new way to promote a conference and my husband found a partner for his new project. Networking is definitely a bonus when you attend LIVE business
conferences.

When you rub shoulders with other entrepreneurs and small business owners, you make friends and contacts with people that “get it”. Too often, those in the 9-5 job arena just don’t see the world
through entrepreneurial glasses. Attending a small business workshop allows you to spend time with others that do “get it”.

Reason #3 – Incredible Access to World-Renowned Experts

Think about how difficult it would be to call a nationally known speaker and visit with him about your small business. But at a LIVE event, these speakers freely share the strategy that made them
successful in the first place.

Most speakers spend the break time in the hallway so you have full access to them and their knowledge. No more waiting for a returned phone call or e-mail. Just walk on up to them and ask your questions.

Bonus Reason – Attend a Small Business Workshop on Uncle Sam’s Money

Most business workshops, seminars and conferences are tax-deductible. You will need to check with your CPA, but I suspect you can write-off your small business workshop as a tax deduction. Hey, what a great way to travel the country and improve your bottom line …all on Uncle Sam’s tab!

Why get second-hand information when you can attend a LIVE event and get the information straight from the horse’s mouth! Start looking for a small business workshop nearby…one that provides a plan and online strategy for your own business.

Step 4: Present the same free webinar (step 1) to another group of people and sell them your new home study course!

A Personal Message from Steve & Kerry

We’ve had an exciting week. Last week we spent time with our Mastermind group that Yanik Silver organizes. We came home with some great ideas to implement and you’ll be seeing them over the next few weeks. We also made some great connections in other niche markets. If you don’t have a coach or mastermind group, you need to find one.

A more personal & exciting event happened once we got home from DC. Our oldest daughter, Ashley, got engaged to be married…whoop! She & Jesse are already planning the wedding for January, so Kerry will be balancing the roles of wedding coordinator, mom-preneur and wife for the next few months. We are excited to see God working in their lives and look forward to having a new member in our family.

Finding products in your niche can be difficult at times, but I’d like to give you a few tips to help you make the most profit. Even if your niche is one where customers don’t usually spend lots of money, it is possible to sell with a rewarding profit.

When looking for products to sell, keep in mind you want ones that are in high demand and have a relatively high markup. Meaning, you will get more bang for your time spent if you choose a course that you make $50 from as opposed to a book that you make $5 from. So here is my advice on on how to make sales online with a product in the homeschool market.

Step 1: Find a product in the homeschool market that you can re-sell. Remember, it should be something with a higher markup. If you can’t sell it directly, look for affiliate programs which provide you a commission on sales.

Step 2: Write a review on the product. By writing a review, you become known as the residential home-schooling expert. People will seek out your advice, so create a one-page website for your review.

Step 3: Research your keywords, then sprinkle them around your site. Optimize your title tags, HTML tags, text, and more with keywords. Use an email capture program to collect contact information, and add a shopping cart to make it easy for the customer to pay.

Step 4: Write some articles that are optimized for your secondary keywords and submit those to article directories on the internet. This will lead people back to your website and provide those all important backward links that the search engines like so much!

Step 5: Find forums which discuss that product. Become the forum expert with a tactful link to your site in the signature

All these steps take time, the best investment you can make in your internet business. You can earn amazing profits with your online business by following these simple steps.

Remember to keep your eyes on the prize. Look for products with higher markups, which are more profitable to you. Enjoy the experience of selling great products, even in the most-difficult niche, and watch your bottom line go up, up, up!
