During the month of November, I’m writing a daily thanks when I get on facebook. Today, I am thankful for the military that work so hard for us to have freedom in the good ol’ United States. This Thanksgiving is a great time to express your gratefulness to our military men & women. The Red Cross has set up a special program to send cards during the holidays to military service men/women. Let me tell you how it works as my friend Eddie Smith shared with me.

Holiday Mail for Heroes
=========================
Again this year, many service men and women will spend their Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays lonely, separated from home and family. In fact, over 1.4 million men and women serve in the U.S. armed forces and over 24 million veterans have served in the past. The holiday season is the perfect time to honor them and to send them warm heart-felt holiday greetings.
Now you can participate in the American Red Cross’ “Holiday Mail for Heroes” program and share joy, thanks and God’s love with our service members during the 2009 holiday season by way of a greeting card.
And, with our amazing online service, you’ll be able to do so from your personal computer keyboard easily and inexpensively! And no, I’m not talking about “e-cards.” I’m talking about top quality greeting cards that communicate sincerity and value! Okay, more about the online card system in a moment.
Perhaps there is no more trusted humanitarian organization than the American Red Cross. For 118 years the American Red Cross has provided disaster relief and other humanitarian services. One of the Red Cross’ most valuable services is to provide encouragement and comfort for military members and their families. This year the Red Cross has established a process to ensure that our service members safely receive our holiday greetings in time through this unique post office box.

Every card received will be screened for hazardous materials, sorted and reviewed by volunteers. They will then be distributed to service members, their families and veterans across the country.
In a moment I’ll tell you about the amazing online system we have that will save you time and money. But first, it’s important that we follow the Red Cross guidelines when preparing our cards.
Do…
· We must include at least our first name—first and last if you like.
· We must entitle the cards “Dear Service Member, Family or Veteran,“
· Each of us is permitted to send up to 15 cards.
· A school class, church or business group can send up to 50 cards (they must be sent in one large envelope)
· Send before the deadline: December 7th
Don’t…
· Don’t send letters.
· Don’t include personal information such as a home or email address.
· Don’t use glitter. (It can aggravate health issues of wounded recipients.)
· Don’t include inserts of any kind
Finally, here is the online greeting card service Steve and I use to send beautiful, top quality greeting cards at one-half of what they would cost at a big name card shop at the mall. And here’s the best news
You can…
1. Choose your card from a catalog of more than 16,000 choices.
2. Write your own content in the font and font color of your choice.
3. Easily upload and include your own photos if you like.
The system will…
1. Keep your addresses in a personal contact manager.
2. Verify your recipient’s address before completing your order.
3. Print your greeting card on quality card stock and UV coat it (glossy).
4. Stuff your card into a “hand-written” envelope.
5. Stick a First Class stamp (.44 cents) on your envelope.
6. And mail it…within 24 hours of your order!
Your cost?
Those six services are provided to you for only $1.56 per card, plus $.44 postage.
(That’s $2.00 per card) No other company offers us these options!
For a one-time payment of $49 you will have a license to use this online service. And your $49 account comes stocked with your first 10 cards and stamps/postage for them.
You can not only use the system to send your Holiday Mail for Heroes cards, you can use it anytime, for years to come, to send cards for Birthdays, Holidays, Congratulations, to say Thank You or for any other greeting card you care to send.
Imagine. . .
With your own online card shop you can act instantly on a prompting. And your cards can contain your photos and text! We love ours.

5. Create your own password.
6. Complete your application form.
With our #60825 and the password you create, you can start sending cards immediately. The system is quite user friendly. However, if you should feel the need for my help, e-mail me. kerry <at> CurriculumConnection <dot> net I’ll make a phone appointment to walk you through sending out your first card.
So, warm a military member’s heart during this holiday season. Let that hero know he or she is valued, appreciated and prayed for. Honor our military heroes today.
But hurry. The deadline to get your card to our troops is December 7th.
Wishing you the happiest of Holiday Seasons!
Blessings,
Kerry
P.S. To be clear, you do not need our online card-sending system to participate in the Red Cross program, but it will save you time and money. You will use it all year long, and each time you do, you will also benefit the work we do.

P.P.S. You may have noticed that there are other options (levels) in the card-sending system. One level includes a complete online gift shop. Yes, you can attach gifts to your cards. Another level offers everything at a 35% wholesale discount, an incredible business-level contact manager and includes 100 free cards. And there’s even a home-based biz level. E-mail me if you have interest in these. kerry <at> CurriculumConnection <dot> net

We had a blast in Costa Rica…and we relaxed with NO email, facebook or twitter! It was wonderful. To prove it to you, watch this video of the Becks ziplining above the rain forest canopy.
Steve got carried away watching the monkeys while we spent a day at the beach.

To see more videos (leaf cutter ants, hummingbirds), as well as family photos, go to Kerry’s blog… right here
You’ll have to scroll through the writing reviews to our pictures.
