On Monday, we left for Hunter’s state tennis match in Waco. Earlier in the morning, I took care of office work, wrote & sent an email for this Thursday’s free webinar, as well as planned & held a Send Out Cards training webinar. In the afternoon, Hunter and I spent some time ordering a tux for his upcoming prom. Back home, I finished packing.

Finally, we are off to Waco. During the 1/2 hour drive, I review my Appreciation Marketing presentation that I will give at a local networking lunch this Thursday. I also compose an affiliate email for our affiliates to use as they promote this Thursday’s webinar. We arrive in Waco and the entire team eats dinner together and spent the night before the matches.

Since Hunter’s match is not until 11:30am, I awake and read my Bible. Steve & Hunter are still asleep, so I set up a few affiliate accounts. I also send the affiliates sample emails & tweets/fb messages. Respond to some team members emails to help them get their Send Out Cards business off the ground & running.

Breakfast at the hotel. When we return to the room, I research our upcoming trip to Armand Live in Orlando. Hunter decided to go with us so we are staying an extra day in Orlando to do something fun. I find that we can fly out on Tuesday for a cheaper price, and we’ll have Monday for fun in Orlando.

Time for the tennis match. We pack up our bags and head to the courts. We enjoyed watching Hunter play. After the match, we eat lunch with his friends’ families. We have a couple of hours until the girls matches, so we head to Starbucks. We might as well take advantage of an extra hour to get some work done.

Here in Starbucks I order several business books from Amazon that have been on my wish list. They’ll be delivered in 2 days with my Prime Free Shipping. We have a half hour until the matches. So, I’ll be outlining Thursday’s webinar so I can write emails 2 & 3. Better quit writing this entry and finish my work.

Why am I sharing this?

When you use your time wisely and stay focused, you can get lots of work done in short time periods. Whether those those time periods are on the road traveling with your family or in between homeschool sessions or during your kids’ naps, you must set your priorities.

Keep a list of 5 things you must get done each day. If you list more than 5 you won’t get any of them done. When you have a 1/2 hour, pull up your list and work on the first task until it is done. That’s what I did yesterday morning and this morning. All I have left on my list is to write emails 2 & 3 today. Then, my day will have been successful.

The response to our event this past weekend was overwhelming. We had so many people come up to us and say that we over-delivered on providing content. That’s exactly what we want to hear. And, that’s exactly why these recordings will be so valuable.

Hit ‘Em Where It Hurts!

I live in a small Texas town with a large university. For some reason, I find that “academic” types love to meddle in other people’s business. They want to tell you where to live, what streets to drive on, what colors you can paint a building (I kid you not!).

Naturally, these “social engineers” want to do all this with OTHER PEOPLE’S MONEY. And naturally they gravitate to local government like flies to an outhouse.

They know what’s best for you, even if you are too stupid to figure it out for yourself …or too dim to acknowledge their right to run your life.

Now, I am a freedom guy. I don’t like having someone else tell me where to live, how much money I should make, what kind of clothes I should wear, what to recycle and the rest. That’s why I have oriented my life and my business to afford as much freedom for me and my family as humanly possible.

So, when our fair city and its misguided mayor decided to annex a neighboring town against its will, I was very upset. But I had to laugh at what the neighboring town did. They started a campaign to recall the mayor and four city councilmen …of our city! And they are getting thousands of signatures from the disgruntled residents …who live in our city!

How cool is that!

Now the local paper is all up in arms about how city government will grind to a halt because of the recall. Oh if only more local, state and federal governments ground to a halt and were forced to abandon there arrogant social engineering programs!

So if someone much bigger is picking on you, do what our neighboring town did …hit ‘em where it hurts! Don’t let anyone stand between you and your God-given freedom!

Have Laptop, Will Travel

Kerry and I just came back from Istanbul with our son, Hunter. Turkey is an incredible place rich in history. We visited the seven ancient cities in the book of Revelation. Ephesus and Laodecia were incredible monuments to the early church and Roman times.

We also visited friends in Ankera and saw incredible historical sites in Istanbul. Istanbul was originally Constantinople during the days of Constantine, so there are too many things to see in the short time we are here. While in Istanbul, we gave a talk on making money on the Internet to a room full of Turkish people. Most knew a little English, but we had a translator for some of the more technical parts.

Again, this is why I have an Internet business. I’m able to travel the world and still run a business at the same time. And trips like this make learning all the technical stuff worth the effort!

A Personal Message From Stephen and Kerry

“Chunks of 30“

We have a new dog in the house. My daughter, Ashley, is getting married in a week and thinking that planning for a wedding wasn’t enough on her plate …she decided to get a dog from the animal shelter! So, we have a new dog living with us until Ashley gets married, back from the honey moon and into her new apartment with her new husband and new dog.

Actually, I’m not as grumpy as I sound. I’m enjoying the new dog too, but the animal shelter told us the dog was potty trained. Yeah right. And pennies fall from the sky when you start an online business.

So we are in the process of potty training the dog…in 30 minute chunks. To prevent accidents in the house and to condition the dog to use the front yard instead of the foyer, I have set an egg timer to remind me to take the dog outside every 30 minutes. Then when she is “successful”, I make a BIG DEAL about it and start the timer again.

And guess what, this works for people as well.

I haven’t had an accident in the house for a while now, but I tend to “drift” when I’m on the computer. Recently, I’ve been using the egg timer to help me be more productive. For example, I’ve given myself 30 minutes to look at the articles I’ve written before, come up with a topic and write this article.

It may not sound like a huge success, but given my personality, I may have drawn this task out to an hour or so. Now, I have a goal and a deadline and I have done the whole thing in 17 minutes. Wow, now I can send those emails to potential joint venture partners that I‘ve been putting off for weeks!

So, start with a list and assign a time deadline to each task (in minutes). When the timer rings, STOP what you’re doing even if you aren’t finished. Return to the same task tomorrow with a time deadline. You will start training yourself to work faster and your productivity will shoot through the roof!

Webinar Planning For Those Who Are New to Webinars

If you were given the opportunity of planning and using webinars for your business, what would keep you from doing so?

Webinars are useful tools because you can use them to teach people many things that they would not have the time to learn themselves. Webinar planning is a flexible tool that allows you to teach people around the world from the comfort of your home. You may even learn things from other people who are scattered worldwide without having to travel millions of miles to make this possible.

Many people, however, hesitate to take the necessary steps for hosting webinars. They deny themselves the opportunity of making money online because they assume one of the following objections is true:

1) The costs that are attached to planning and conducting webinars are too high. I will not deny that there is an initial investment in creating webinars, including the time that is necessary to learn vital facts and information; however, the overall returns are far greater than the investment. For example, our profits have always fallen between $3000-$5000 when we planned one if we have more than 50 people on the webinar. I always ensure that I do not have less than 50 people on my webinars because that means I will be targeting a smaller audience and making less money. Once you have conducted your first webinar, you will be able to see the monetary returns.

2)The efforts that go into planning webinars is only worth it if it involves big-ticket items. This is simply not true. An ebook that sells $29 is excellent way to get started because the initial investment is quite low. A webinar my wife Kerry planned generated $16,000 when she used it for her $37 ebook “Raising Leaders, not Followers.” As you can see, small ticket items are just as effective in bringing in profits as large ticket items.

They also have the added bonus in that they are less of an investment for people. So if you are trying to build a business, you can generate rapport with a product that is less of a financial step for people to take who are not familiar with you. Then you will build a list of customers who trust you and know you have a great product to offer when you offer a larger ticket item.

3) It requires a great degree of technical knowledge. I will not deny that planning and running your webinars requires some level of technical consciousness. However, there is nothing out of the ordinary that you cannot learn. There is a high-demand course that I have available that offers step-by-step instructions about planning webinars. However, if you do not want to learn the content yourself, you can ask someone else to do that part for you. You are free to concentrate on preparing the presentation.

These are the reasons that most skeptics use when discussing webinars. However, if your excuses are not holding out anymore as to why planning webinars is not for you, then it is time to take action. You will be glad you did when you see the results!

Counting the Days Till Christmas…For most of my adult life, I have not enjoyed Christmas. The stress, the running here and there …the dealing with cantankerous family members. And when the day finally came, I couldn’t help but feel a little depressed when all the gifts were opened.Is that all there is…But a funny thing happened when I was preparing a sermon in seminary. The sermon was, of course, on Christmas!

I studied in the Old Testament how a promise was given to Adam and Eve (Gen 4:25-26). Then the same promise is restated again to Abraham 2000 years later.

Then again to David 1000 years after that! (2 Sam 7:12-16)

Like pieces of a puzzle, each new promise brought more clarity, but also more questions. And finally 300 years later, a lot more clues were given to Isaiah.

So many clues, in fact, that it seemed that the Messiah coming was just around the corner.But 300 years go by and still no Messiah. 300 years in which Israel is led captive to Assyria and Judah is led captive to Babylon.

300 years and not a word, until they do get another clue in Malachi.And then…400 years of silence.

Now, if I am a Jew in the first century waiting for Messiah, I am exhausted!

“We have been waiting for the Messiah for 4000 years since our father, Adam. There was a flurry of hope and excitement 700 years ago during Isaiah’s time, but we haven’t heard much since then.”

“Where is He? Why has He not come? Why are we still oppressed?”

“Has He forgotten? What about all the promises?”

Have a Stress-Free Christmas …by Kerry Beck

Stress-Free Christmas! This seems quite evident, but it took me a decade to apply this. Actually, my marvelous husband helped me learn how to minimize the
activity in our lives during the Christmas season.

Back then, I wanted the children to experience everything available during Christmas. Instead, stress and nervousness crept up and finally would explode around Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. …I’m positive that none of you have gone through this before

WHICH ACTIVITIES DO I SELECT

What works for us is to select 1 or 2 Christmas activities to go to outside our home. Other than those 2 activities, most time is spent in our home. This way I’m not harboring stress by bothering my husband to attend one more Christmas activity each week. He is still providing for our family and loving it. Therefore, he is much happier going to a few activities and enjoying being with family and friends at home.

We enjoy having other people in our home, so we take advantage on this. Our kids help in the cleaning and cooking, so our workload is minimized and I do not feel stressed when our visitors come.

HAVE FUN AT HOME

Back then, I would had more activities for us than we have time for. In our recent Thanksgiving weekend, I picked which activities will wait until next year.

REMEMBER: YOU CAN’T DO EVERY THING, EVERY YEAR.

I try to select activities that inspire my children to do something for others, instead of only thinking of themselves during the holiday season. One of the things we used to do is charity work by
raising money for a missionary family. The kids would take orders for pumpkin bread loaves and chocolate chip cookies. After making and delivering them to their customers, they would pay me back for the ingredients and supplies used. The remaining money was their profit, which was used to buy useful gifts for a missionary family.

This season we will have other kids over to bake cookies so their moms can do some Christmas shopping, uninterrupted. A Christmas card stamping party for younger kids would be a great idea for an activity. I’m still thinking it over how that will work.

I have some other ideas that are included in Advent, Christmas & Epiphany Celebration Ideas.

INCORPORATE CHRISTMAS IN YOUR SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

For school-aged children, drop some of your formal schoolwork and have fun during this season. There are myriad of ways of incorporating math, writing & reading concepts as we do baking,
shopping and preparing for Christmas day. At home, we still read aloud each morning and then proceed to work on a Christmas activity. It may be handwork type crafts or other quiet easy to do activity.

DO YOU FEEL A TREMENDOUS NERVOUS STRAIN DURING THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS?

Stop and take a moment right now and prioritize all the activities you and your family want to do. Pick only 1 or 2 activities that the entire family can enjoy and pass on the rest. Being at home with your family is enjoyable. Invite another family over to roast marshmallows and mingle with them. At the center of this Christmas activity, keep your hearts tuned to Jesus Christ. Without His love for us, we would not be celebrating the true meaning of Christmas.

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God. Ephesians 2:8

Say “Thanks” to our Military

During the month of November, I’m writing a daily thanks when I get on facebook. Today, I am thankful for the military that work so hard for us to have freedom in the good ol’ United States. This Thanksgiving is a great time to express your gratefulness to our military men & women. The Red Cross has set up a special program to send cards during the holidays to military service men/women. Let me tell you how it works as my friend Eddie Smith shared with me.

Holiday Mail for Heroes

Again this year, many service men and women will spend their Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays lonely, separated from home and family. In fact, over 1.4 million men and women serve in the U.S. armed forces and over 24 million veterans have served in the past. The holiday season is the perfect time to honor them and to send them warm heart-felt holiday greetings.

Now you can participate in the American Red Cross’ “Holiday Mail for Heroes” program and share joy, thanks and God’s love with our service members during the 2009 holiday season by way of a greeting card.

And, with our amazing online service, you’ll be able to do so from your personal computer keyboard easily and inexpensively! And no, I’m not talking about “e-cards.” I’m talking about top quality greeting cards that communicate sincerity and value! Okay, more about the online card system in a moment.

Perhaps there is no more trusted humanitarian organization than the American Red Cross. For 118 years the American Red Cross has provided disaster relief and other humanitarian services. One of the Red Cross’ most valuable services is to provide encouragement and comfort for military members and their families. Every card received will be screened for hazardous materials, sorted and reviewed by volunteers. They will then be distributed to service members, their families and veterans across the country.

In a moment I’ll tell you about the amazing online system we have that will save you time and money. But first, it’s important that we follow the Red Cross guidelines when preparing our cards.

Do…
· We must include at least our first name—first and last if you like.
· We must entitle the cards “Dear Service Member, Family or Veteran,“
· Each of us is permitted to send up to 15 cards.
· A school class, church or business group can send up to 50 cards (they must be sent in one large envelope)
· Send before the deadline: December 7th

Don’t…
· Don’t send letters.

Back in the Saddle Again!It’s been a long time since I’ve been on a mission trip.During the years I owned a construction company, I was able to go to Nicaragua, Haiti and many times to Mexico. They were great trips. We did work projects during the day and ministry projectsin the evenings.But in the year prior to seminary and my years during seminary, I wasn’t able to swing a mission trip, time-wise or financially. So, it’s been a long time since I’ve been on a mission trip.

Our Students Are Successful!

I want to take a moment an share my delight about the results of being an 8 Weeks to Profits customer. We purchased the program about a year ago. At that time we had few sales, a small email list and very little visibility.

You can learn useful information about your business,customers, and potential customers by conducting a survey. If you have a list of e-mail addresses of your customersand prospects you can send them an e-mail containing a link which leads to a survey on your site.
